He so reminds me of you,’ and I thought that was a compliment but well, my father just blew up.” John was definitely not impressed with Agnello, however, and he forbid his daughter from seeing him. What she seemed less impressed with was Agnello’s apparent obsession with the mafia lifestyle, according to the film’s depiction, although he continuously reassured her that he wasn’t involved in the mob. Victoria was impressed, to say the least. “Do you know who my father is?” she asked. The film depicts the struggle that Victoria had with her father, the former Godfather of the Gambino family, over her romance with Agnello.Īccording to the movie’s depiction of their meeting, Agnello first approached Victoria when she was in high school when all the other boys were too scared to talk to her because of who her father is.Īgnello showed up to Victoria’s high school to talk to her and tell her that he’d asked around about her. The new Lifetime movie “Victoria Gotti: My Father’s Daughter,” executive produced by Gotti herself, reveals how she ended up marrying a man just like her father: notorious mob boss John Gotti. In Victoria Gotti's case, the man she married was just like her dad because of his connections to "the life." Or you end up with a woman who responds to anger the same way your mom did. Maybe you end up marrying a guy who is as emotionally distant as your father.
Usually, it's the exact opposite of what you wanted to happen but, in many cases, it ends up happening anyway. The success of the book led to her career in fiction writing and she soon released a mystery novel The Senator's Daughter.It sucks when you realize you ended up with someone that reminds you of one of your parents.
The book was inspired by her own struggle with the illness and documents her heart condition. She wrote her first book, Women and Mitral Valve Prolapse, in 1995. Victoria was an avid reader and straight-A student, even skipping two grades in high school. Her entire life has been plagued with mob convictions and tragedies, including the death of her 12-year-old brother, Frank, who was hit by a car when he steered his bike out into oncoming traffic in 1980. Victoria's own (ex) husband, Carmine Agnello, was arrested for using extortion and arson to frighten a Queens business competitor. In 1992, when Victoria was 30 years old, her father was convicted of racketeering and five counts of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole, where he died in 2002. Father John Gotti was a convicted mob-boss who was in and out of jail during her childhood, during which time her mother told the family that her father was away on business as a plumbing supplier, helping to build a prison facility.
